Anyone?

Ore is it better to use a vnt Turbo?

I don't think there is any good way to turn the supercharger.. I wouldn't want to put any more load on the front pulley.
I have not messed with a VNT, but I'm sure you can find a turbo that will fit your needs.

What are your goals?

My goal is 7 or 8psi at maximum 1200rpm to get better mileage

At what speed are going to be at 1200 rpm? You may loose some mpg trying to work the engine harder at that low an rpm.

That and the squirters aren't operating.

You might need a different cam to convert a D24 into a low RPM engine. Maybe VW sold these motors for some industrial or generator use that would have a cam you could get?

On my D24T, the cam is so 'high rpm' I rarely run the engine below 2500rpm as it seems prone to lug, and probably gets worse fuel economy. These are truly high RPM diesels, I've never had a gasoline car that I regularly revved as high as I do driving a D24.

It took me a few years to realize this after I got my first D24 (an 84 245). I had been driving slow with the fully loaded semi-trucks, but I eventually was keeping up with normal traffic once I started to rev the motor higher.

D24T mated to a supercharger

Boost comes late, very low torque at low rpm, a supercharger might be a remedy to all the weaknesses of the D24T. I am going to install an SC14 (1420cc per revolution) or an Eaton M90 (90 cubic in per revolution) to my Pinzgauer 718 Tdi I am planning to buy. Pulley ratio of 1:1.5

At least a 50% gain in HP and torque. This should result in a very responsive torquey low rpm engine, fun, zippy, off road or on road.

Check out youtube how these SC diesel behaves..

There's nothing better than an SC to improvise an anaemic D24T on a Pinz.. I plan to lose the TC even.

Of course I'd need race internals, etc..
