Hi from Canada

hello everyone

am now the proud owner of a western Canada , 1981 264 with D24 diesel 4speed with over drive with less than 85,000 k

one owner car that was never driven in winter, and never had timing belts changed in 34 years and as everyone knows needs new belts.

have most of the really badly needed tools but short the 5201 anyone share that tool? or want to sell in the unlikely event of course?

am really looking forward to getting the beast on the road soon

all the best from rusty cars Ontario Canada

5201 is the kinked wrench extension for the rear cam bolt and IP nut:

It does help considerably on a 200 series diesel since there's so little room between the motor and firewall, especially if the bolt is on tight.... there have been many occasions when I have been very grateful for it, though you can get by without if the bolt was last installed by someone reasonable.

I do have one, happy to loan, although I don't know what the cross-border shipping in two directions would be like.

You could probably also get someone clever with a welder to make you a reasonable homebrew version without too much trouble, starting with a 19mm box wrench and a half-inch-drive socket. Nothing too tricky or precise about it, you just need two bends to put the outer end in an accessible place, and a way to plug a breaker bar into it.

tool 5201

thank you v8 Volvo

you reinforced my thoughts that a tool can be fabricated from simple long handled 17mm wrench , proper bends to get the offset, and welding 1/2 plug in the end

as I am handy with the welder, will certainly do that, will post a pic when I get it fabricated, so all can have a good laugh on how we do things in Canada

thanks guys am so excited to get my diesel on the road

If you put a cheap wrench in a vice or hitch receiver, you can usually bend it enough with a bigish hammer.
