Gearbox M46 -> M47 / High RPMs on Highway...

Hi.

Is anyone here, who has experience to Change the Gearbox from M46 to M47 ?

I think its Plug and Play.

I want to get "rid of" the High Rpmīs Driving on the Highway....

Would it be better if i put a M47 Gearbox in ?
But anyone in my Region says, that the M47 will broke easily due the High Torque of the engine...and i should leave the M46 where it is :)

(thats why it only was selled with the M46 Overdrive or Automatic Tranny)

I dont want to Change the Complete Rear axle (Much work ...)
Greetings.

They use mostly the same shafts, gears and bearings, and neither is particularly strong. M47 has .8 od vs .79 for M46 so that isn't going to help.

Sonny

You are like me based in Europe, the best for you is to get a M90 gearbox for a d24Tic, it has to be the diesel one because of the bellhousing.

`high` engine speeds at highway driving

What percentage of those RPMs are we shooting for in general?
