Hi all,

Im based here in the UK and just have bought a 940 D24tic with 116K. Im looking to repair the vacuum pump as its a little too noisy.
I have seen plenty repair kits for VW rabbits/jetta diesels but I cant see anything labeled up for the D24tic VW LT/Volov.
Has anyone sourced repair kits for the vac pump? Help would be appriciated.

Thanks Volvo-express.

Thanks for replying, I had a look at the link and it looks similar to the ones for the diesel Jetta's...etc but when i look into the details it labeled up for the V6 "petrol"
I have since sent them an email to confirm it is for the D24tic engine but still waiting for an answer.

The other address... i couldnt find a suitable part. Has someone taken one of these apart before and replaced the diaphram?
On the VW fourm they say it improved noise reduction and vac for the brakes so sounds like it worth doing.

I doubt that a gasoline engine would need a external vacuum pump, because they produce vacuum thanks to the throttle body.

I have one of these repair kits for my d24t, I'm planning on installing it in the next couple of weeks as I find some more free time. I'll post the process/results of the repair kit.

Nick,

So its just by an eduacted guess that you are going for one of these repair kits....no such thing for the petrol.
I have seen the kits with a rectangular piece with them as well.....wonder what is that for?
The round disk with the holes thats the business part...ie the most important piece.

Thanks volvo-express.

Yeah, I already have one of the kits. I haven't taken my vacuum pump apart yet so I can't tell you what the parts are for, sorry about that. I'll post my finding shortly after I perform the rebuild though.

I clicked on that link, that vacuum pump kit looks to be wrong for the D24/D24T kit. Nick: Does the kit you purchased look at all like the kit pictured?
I used to have a few of the D24/D24T vacuum pump kits, but I forget the OEM company that manufactured them. Shoot.

You might want to consider converting to an electric vacuum pump. There are many aftermarket ones that are universal fit for brake boosters. You just fabricate a plate to cover the hole on the head where the pump used to be, and of course remove the rod that pushes the pump piston.
