Hi all.

In the quest to make this a tidier engine bay, I'm wondering what is this sensor where the red wire goes to, in the middle of the oil.

It seems the source of the leak...

By the way... I didn't remember seeing this green wire in other owner's albuns / pics.
What is that?

Thanks

The oily one is the oil pressure sensor for the light in the dash, the green wire goes up to a coolant temp sensor, which is for the temp gauge in the dash. You will also find the same sensor in the back of the engine which runs the glow plug relay.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I was not able to find any info on the assembly of this sensor; should just be tightened enough?! Does it have any gasket / o-ring / ...?

On FCP Groton site, the oil pressure sender looks quite different from mine! Which one is correct?

Many thanks, again!

Its just a single wire sensor, not what you have pictured. Its a taper thread, you should put teflon tape on the threads and snug it down. It is possible that its leaking between the plastic part and the outer metal where its crimped together. That sensor should only be a few dollars new.

Thanks again.
By the way: the FCP Groton one seems to have warning and pressure outs; I have some optional clocks which don't work:

from left to right, it should be oil pressure, oil temp and manifold vaccum (which doesn't make sense in a diesel car!!).
Where should the signal come to feed this oil and temp clocks?

the oil temp gauge used a sump bung with a sensor in , I think the pressure gauge used a different pressure switch -accessory parts that came as a `GT ` gauge kit

Hi.
Thanks for the reply.
Somehow I was lucky to find the optional oil pressure clock on the VADIS system, and it actually come with some wiring and a new sensor, with 2 outputs, which goes along what you wrote.
Thanks again.

+1

this is where I Tee off for oil pressure to my turbo.

mine was leaking as well lol... seems to be a re-occuring problem
