Greetings,

I am selling my parents 1982 245 DIESEL. They we're given a Mercedes 300D and have moved on.

It has a D24 engine with 418k miles on it, and currently has low compression, I believe do to water locking. We got the car when the previous owners let the timing belt change interval laps and the timing belt snapped. I replaced the head with a rebuild D24T head, obviously changed the head gasket and both timing belts. Drove the car for about a year, and it wound up in a big puddle and wouldn't turn over. Until the next day, when we got it started again, but it smoked more now. I changed the oil and then did a compression test.

#1: 190psi
#2: 190psi
#3: 300psi
#4: 300psi
#5: 290psi
#6: 390psi

The engine still ran, at least it did when we stopped driving it about a year ago. It just smoked a good bit, and had 418k on it.

It has a Manual transmission, M46, witch I replaced a few years ago. I don't know how many miles it has on it, but it shifts nice. I think the overdrive might even work.

The body is not perfect, and has some rust issues. This is a factory D24 car. It is complete, and would make a great parts car. Or if you wanted to bring it back you could rebuild it, or I have another D24 with 138k on it. We could work something out. It is not currently inspected, but we replaced the rear breaks (calipers and pads) last inspection. I don't know of anything that would keep it from passing, aside from a front ball joint, and maybe a tie rod end. It has been in my garage for the past year.

Looks pretty rust free for a east coast 2xx series car. You should post up a couple interior pics too.

Good luck with the sale.
