Im not too thrilled with the body condition of my wagon... although, I have this limited edition convertible 83 corolla. with the RWD platform. I would LOVE to swap this engine over, but im afraid of how much it weighs.... since I have an EXPENSIVE set of coilovers for the car, id like to use it.... but if the engine is too heavy... itll just throw things off =(

also, im trying to see what numbers people are putting out... Ive got a pretty big turbo thats capable of 40psi all day long... I plan on intercooling it, and since my pump is still working, I dont plan on even looking at it unless I HAVE to.

So what I need to know. What are your HP and tq numbers, and does anyone know how much this paper weight; weighs.

If you look around, slobodan posted up his dyno video, though I don't remember what he put down. Regardless of the turbo, the most hp your going to get out of the stock fuel pump with 10mm head is around 200hp at the wheels. Thats over double the stock TD hp rating so not bad. As for weight, its heavy, real heavy. It took 3 guys to pic up just the short block with no head and no accessories out of the back of my truck and get it on the stand.

jesus! 200hp.. thats probably like 400tq? "typically with diesel engines, the tq is usually about twice the HP'

not bad for a little 2 something liter.

ill do some digging for that video

Just wanted to add to this thread to confirm information posted above. I removed the D24T from my 83 760 today, fully dressed with AC Compressor, Alternator, PS Pump, Fan, even has the oil filter and a pan full of oil too. I was shocked to see that it only weighs 477 LBS.

In comparison to the gasser Volvos, I pulled the B230FT from my 745 Turbo last week and that weighs in at 365 LBS. Only 112 LBS difference.

how much lighter is the aluminum hood? they would have needed to make the doors out of aluminum too in order to counter the weight of the engine lol.

Not sure, but I can tell you at some point. my 83 and 89 both have steel hoods, my 85 has an aluminum hood that I will be using
