Overdrive indicator light

I have the m46 transmission. It looks like there's a light on the dashboard to indicate that the car is in overdrive, but it never comes on. This would be nice to have instead of muting the stereo to hear if the engine RPM's go down. Should the light illuminate? Does it come on when overdrive is engaged or disengaged?

P.S. I've already checked the bulb.

Green nr "5" should iluminate, when you press the overdrive button, it takes few moments after that to engage. When you checked the bulb, did you checked does power comes to the bulb?
