I don't want to hijack the mpg thread. Lets start here. I want to run the 253 nozzels at about 2500 to 2600 psi. Any suggestions or experience?

Ya lets not screw up the mileage thread with injector talk.

What did he 253 nozzles come in? You mentioned the 293 nozzles came in the D24Tic, obviously those are bigger than the regular D24T injectors. I have heard you can use Mercedes diesel injector tips, any truth to that?

The complete number is DNO SD 293 Bosch # The last 3 numbers indicate nozzle tip size in mm. That one is what is used on the d24tic. I want to run the DNO SD 253. Stock is a DNO SD 193 for the us. All the injector have the same body just different nozzles and shims for the opening pressure.

Yes but I dont remember what motors or years I think the MB 603 or 604 motors from the early 90s. They used them in the GM injetors also dont have a clue as to the years. I think 6.2 early 90s?

Why the 253? Why not go to the 293? Bigger is better!

Anyone know the nozzle size for a 1.6 turbo diesel? I have access to those through work, I looked up the DNO part number but our system doesn't show anything. Most of our stuff is in 9 digit vw part numbers.

Easier to get the 253 from the GM performance guys. What are the vw guys using in the 1.6 tdi? I dont want to go too big at first (no I am not gay).

So the 253 is stock for the 6.5 or 6.2 I'm guessing? Most of the 1.6 guys that had injectors were using mercedes nozzles. I had heard of using the GM nozzles as well. The 1.6 is an IDI, like our D24. The TDI (1.9) is a different injector all together and they have their own aftermarket of nozzles and whatnot.

I think the MB nozzles are in low 200's

I'll have to search over on the vwdiesel site and see what MB nozzles they were using. There were some guys making pretty big power with them, but most were running a Giles pump.

Well, the D24T is the rabbit's engine with 2 more cylinders, so, they use the same injector nozzles, and exist two or three part numbers for the same injectors. From what I read in vwdiesel.net they use the "GTD" or MB injector nozzles as performance injectors, and some VW diesel parts site, sell the 6 "performance" nozzles kits for the D24T.

What the hell is the GTD nozzle anyway, and for that matter, I have never been able to figure out what GTD stood for to begin with.

Check out this link. http://www.mercedessource.com/node/4952

Good price. I guess that is what im going to use. 2500-2600 psi set pressure.

Thats a good price for the set of 6! If I had a turbo to go with all that fuel it would be worth it.

I have no technical reasons for this statement, nor any personal experiences, but I've read somewhere on the VW GTD forum that using MB nozzles in the VW 1.6-derived engines was a bad idea. Something about the MB spray pattern is not optimal for the VW's and it could even cause damage to the pistons. Again, I have no evidence or technical information to cite, just passing this along -- YMMV.

Having said that, I would be interested in getting 6 of those 293 nozzles! :)
