Hello, I'm looking for a d24 engine, mine bent a valve on the way to work. She went threw all her oil and locked up. If anyone has one they are willing to ship to lower Oregon please contact me preferably text 814) 558 9768

I have two rebuilt d24 engines, one has 80,000 miles and the other has 60,000 miles. I'm willing to sell either of them as complete or as bare as you want. I will send you a text.

Save at least the cylinder head from the locked up engine. If the camshaft bearing surfaces are not galled, its probably still useable. If the engine did quickly loose all the oil, the oil cooler gasket is a prime suspect. You can eliminate the oil cooler by installing frost plugs in the appropriate places. One at the rear of the cylinder head and one on the block.

Anders probably can set you up with anything you may need and more, so if you are in touch with him that's the way to go.

Curious to hear a little more about the car, is this the same blue sedan that was for sale in Portland area a few weeks ago? And what went wrong with it, you say it bent a valve but also say it lost all its oil. Those would typically be two separate problems. It could have had a timing belt break and bend valves. Rapid oil loss would usually be a failure of the oil pump to block gasket. Do you know any more info about what happened? That might help us be able to tell you if there is anything else you could save from your old engine to reuse. It probably is not scrap in any case! These are easy to rebuild.

If you get another engine, make sure you either get one that is totally complete with the timing belts already installed and the timing set properly and the crank bolt torqued (Anders would be able to provide one with all this done), or if you get one that is not totally turn key complete you need to make sure you and/or your mechanic have the right tools and knowledge to get it set up correctly in the car. Don't underestimate the crucial importance of this, it's the thing that matters more than anything else. Installing the engine is no big deal, these don't need anything different from any other engine for that, but setting up the timing belts and engine timing (crank to cam and cam to injection pump), torquing the crank bolt, setting front and rear timing belt tension, and adjusting valve clearance all involve special techniques and equipment. You CANNOT try to get away with not doing it right. This is not the type of engine where you just "line up the marks" and pray that you got it close enough.

It is unfortunately common for someone to spend thousands of dollars getting one of these engines freshly rebuilt (or installing a good used one) but then when it comes time to put on the timing belts and get it running, they try to cut corners on these final steps, and then the engine runs poorly or self-destructs right away. That's why the warning, just an introduction since it sounds like this might be your first one of these engines and your first time hearing about all of this. :)

Good afternoon. It was a rainy day, so you can continue to look for everything about the D24 and came across a replacement from the LT 28 . Very interestingly with 82 forces raise until 142 forces.
