Hi everyone, :)

It's been a while, I just finished my rebuild of my D24t, I replace the piston ring and put a one notch fiber headgasket. I will present you the all thing later.

The problem is that the engine won't start, it seem like the engine rev to high and died, see the video.

When the engine was in part, I did the governor mod and maybe it's the problem, for information in the video the idle setting is at the minimum and I didn't touch the accelerator.

Before I re-open the pump I'd like to have your opinion on this ;)

Thanks guys !

Have you studied the Hard starting sticky? (http://d24t.com/showthread.php?t=1225)

Are you getting fuel out the ends of the injector hardlines?

Any smoke out the tailpipe?

Yep, as you can see in the video, a lot of smoke so fuel should be good (no bubble in the line between filter and pump).

The engine start (then stop very quickly), so it shouldn't be a compression or Gp issue...

The weird thing is that it revs high but the idle is setting at the very minimum

Sorry, Flash not working for me so no youtube.

Reattaching the governor spring cage lever to the rest of the mechanism when replacing the IP top cover is difficult and finicky. One time I thought I had it correct but must have bent something when tightening down the cover and subsequently caused the mechanism to bind and eventually break one of the arms of the spring cage, causing a start issue like you are having. It didn't want to start, and when it finally would catch, would immediately die.

Another possible issue is inadvertently changing the clocking position of the exterior throttle lever on its splined shaft during reassembly. Even one spline off can cause all kinds of no-start/idle/off-idle/high idle issues.

Thanks, my first thought was about the governor I just wanted that someone confirm me that it can be the cause of this type of problem.

Now I know what do I have to do...
