I just would like to let others know that model year 2001 volvos that were Turbo charged used an electric vacuum assist pump for the brakes. This works very well when hooked up with the vacuum switch and simple relay, totally bypassing the mechanical failing vacuum pump. Not only does it work better than the original one it allows you to permanently remove the old one allowing for better maintenance in the future.

Thanks, great to know! Are you using one? Who is going to make a batch of vac pump block-off plates?

Slobodan, could you provide a few more details about "hooked up with vacuum switch and simple relay". Pictures would be great if you could.

Thanks

I used a 1/4 inch plate steel cut to fit, with a couple holes drilled in it. boom block off plate.

Also interested... Stop teasing, Show us the goods!
I spotted the s80 vac pumps look quite meaty, Would a vacuum accumulator help with extended brake applications?

We haven't seen from Slobodan for quite some time so it is probably on us to carry on ourselves. I would think an accumulator is required, yes.

No one have a pic ? That sound really interesting as the genuine pump don't last so before this annoying catering sound !
