. Glow plugs will pull current which says that they are getting hot.

After long years of always functioning totally reliable, until last winter; suddenly (=finally?:) ) my 740 plugs did so... but they failed getting hot (OR even warm). 3 of 6. Car was almost impossible to start...(despite proper maintenance, fluids, fuel, compr, timing etc.)

All six new proper bosch duratherms fixed it quickly. It happens they test okay but are way too `slow` (mixing different brands =not good either). Often they pass current test fine but if tip doesn`t `light up` properly /at all ---> still bad)

Plugs that stay ON for too long, may deform the end of the plug, the tips may get `fat` there (melting) and then obviously it is a dangerous situation we dont like lol (i caught this happening on a 240 i had... because of no-start due to air in fuel + plugs were set up as Manually operated on dashboard) Those plugs tested ok but they did not get hot properly. Luckily they did not crack and were still removable but ugly and fat like a _____. (i ran out of words)

I hope you find the secret to start it. Try getting them all out to test and see for yourself. Im expecting a start-up video soon. :`)

I bought the plugs but its going to take me alot of work to install them in an HOA community parking lot. I cannot do it. Especially if it won't fire at all to see if the engines good. I jump started it, manually warmed the plugs and even put gas in the air filter, bled the injectors, fixed the fuel lines and even pulled fuel through the pump. Nothing.

pfff trouble. You mussst absolutely make sure that the plugs work perfectly. All of them, especially if the engine is suspected being tired or misadjusted. Im sure you did stuff, im just saying....Checked if the pump is energized (`shutoff`)?
I dont know how to manually warm the plugs but im sure with proper basic tools you could do all six plugs in less than 2hrs. Dont give up, just smoke the hood up soon and keep us updated.

It might be the stupidest thing to ask but how`s the filter did you ever get it off and if you did did you reuse it plus how did car run/start before?
A `slow` (weak) starter can mess u up too. Cranking speed is somewhat very important. Check all basic things because stress can make us forget checking those very minor issues so we often overlook things. I do hope you figure it out very soon. Stay away from autolite etc glowplugs if you decide to give them a shot. Rock@uto has the proper bosch 80010 plugs on sale for $5.

In case it wont start being warm (???) then i suggest temporarily disconnecting the wire that runs to the rear temp sensor that is located in the head at the firewall near the IP.... thus triggering a truly fake `cold-start` :)
