Hey, I just wanted to say hello to all you fellow D24 folks out there. I just picked up a 1985 745 from the Seattle area and wanted to see if there are any other fellow Volvo dieselers over here on the other side of the mountain? Love the wagon but the center hose that comes off the thermostat housing and goes to the oil cooler 1" to 5/8" split yesterday and I am having a heck of a time trying to find a replacement. Any ideas?

Also I have noticed a considerable amount of rust around the pinch weld area..is this normal? easy to have fixed? the rest of the car underneath appears to be very solid?

Welcome.
740s seldom have significant rust down here.I'd get a metal 5/8 - 1 adapter, and two bits of hose.

It seems I am not able to locate a 1” to 5/8” adaptor? Would you advise I solder in a copper piece maybe a few until I get the desired 5/8 OD for the 5/8” ID hose to connect to?

I can send you a complete replacement hose, I have pile of them. Just pay for the shipping. Send a pm if interested.

I hate the water to oil cooler leak circuit, so I eliminate that hose, but I have had copper adapters hold for years.

Copper or aluminum would work, even steel. Plastic less trustworthy.
