Hey guys. just had a few things i wanted ask, if i ever get my car to start right i wanna build it up.

the idea is a volvo diesel 240 drift car. ive seen a few 760s but never a 240.
ive tracked down a 760 d24t manifold, a 12mm injector head, a few part numbers for a mls headgasket and studs also some for the injectors and nozzles incase i need them. *havnt gone and tried to order anything yet* found a t3/t4 internal wastegate turbo, some oil lines, need to look into where to feed oil from on the na motor. gonna pull the oil pan and put in a bung for the drain, found a world class t5, looking for a company to make the clutch plate (i disslike the m46 gearing. and overdrive) and a LSD for the rear. looked into a holley 8 lb lift pump, found a intercooler and piping kit, oil cooler and filter relocator, some lowering springs and shocks for the hell of it and some nice 17" wheels and tires. plan was: pull motor teardown and clean block and engine bay bolt as much as i can on ( and fix the broken off bolt on my thermostat housing..)outside the car then put it all back and start tuning it in.

that all sounds well and good. but would it even be worth using the d24 and converting the T onto it? or am i just gonna be better off swaping to something else.

i heard the 940 block has alot more power? is the true or BS? seems to me like its same bore same stroke and same pump?

what is the differnce between NA and turbo IP? other than the big piece on top that i thought was for variable boost control are they the same? or will i need t d24t IP to make any real power with it?

other than that what did i leave off that i need, and /or does it sound like it will work okay?

thanks for any help guys

Wow, long list of things you want to do... So what do you have for a car? I'm guessing 240 with a d24 and m46? Is your car running? How many miles? Are you familiar with d24/t's any or diesels in general? It takes some money, some time and skill to set up one of these d24t's to perform and LAST..

If this is your first diesel Volvo I would start with one thing at a time. Get the car to be a nice running and driving rig, do your transmission swap and suspension tuning while tracking down the parts and knowledge for the d24 engine. Get gauges! EGT, boost, ect..

Tell me some more about your car..

i can gladly tell you more about the car! lol and yeah sorry im very long winded wen talking. my build plan keeps changing bit by bit as i learn more and budget more.

as for the car: the car was baught brand new by a guy from a dealer in columbus OH, i have ordersheet and all. maintained at that dealer for the next 90,000 miles (again have the paperwork) in 1996 is was baught by my fiances dad for $2300 where it lived the rest of its life untill 2004 going back and fourth to columbus every day. the guy went and got another car to drive, and let this one sit in his barn for the next few years, wen he gave it to me for getting it started. yes it runs just fine. it was at 166,000 wen i got it. its at 171 now. drove it all summer as a dd. from the time i got it to now its had a starting issue. it misses hard on #6 till its warm and takes alot of cranking. have been scarred of burning up the starter, but it has never failed to start. it needs a set of glow plugs on top of the bad injector. i have ran a few tests on it, know how to fix it and will be doing so soon.

as of right now i am in auto diesel collage, wyotech in PA, and am very much broke. so money has been taking awhile to get together. i apologize in advance for dragging this build out, but stay with me and i promise it will be worth it. i have a whole bunch of ideas for this kool little car.

been toying around with a compound turbo. think i can make it work, i have a welder and alot of exhaust tubing at my disposal. i relize there is not much of a benifit and most everyone who has set out to do it has been shot down or changed their minds. i just want to for the sheer kool factor.

$3400 later i think i can make it work. but as of right now its nothing more than a dream.
i have been looking for a turbo block just for the oil squirters, these motors are not the best cooling in the world, so every little but helps.

we will see what the future holds. like i said this will be over a long period of time. if you have any questions feel free to ask. i realize its a preaty odd idea and odd thing to want to spend money on vs single turbo considering the power you get from it. but its an ambition

hey, while this thred is taking up space, what is the highest HP/TQ numbers anyone has put through a d24t?? i have seen one 75 green 242 from another country running some form of compound turbo with the stocker and an HX35. he had to be putting down power it sounded mean. but i cant even find a picture of the engine bay, let alone any stats. i know Jason has made his 740 into a preaty badass machine too. i was just curious what the motor was capable of wen really pushed. im guessing probably around 250hp is the max it can go, but i have no clue. was just wondering. not that ill ever push it that far, i just wanna go sideways, not drag racing. but im curious never-the-less. thanks!

At least 2 turbos lol. But wow.

I see 2 turbos, some kind of injection at the intake (water/meth or propane?), a few other tricks that are pretty wild but still within the non-bizarre realm.... but the 2 injection pumps? That's a new one! I know sometimes the big hopped-up Duramax common rail guys use dual high-pressure pumps for extra fuel flow but a single VE is able to make about 600hp on a 5.9L Cummins, hard to imagine that was not enough fuel for this guy's D24T! Maybe it was cheaper to get another stock pump to put on than spend the money to get a single hot-rod pump built?

Looks like he hadn't got his second pump set up to run yet, I wonder how he was planning to spin it with it mounted in that location.

I's got a jackshaft and chain drive. Not unheard of in the tractor pull world.

wow. wow.. thats a little over the top. thank you very much for finding this 745. i will not be doing anything near that crazy with the pumps, i can build the stocker to make the power i need to have a decent drift brick. id be amazed if i could ever make it to 300 hp. ill be happy with 220, which the stock pump with some minor mods can make it there. that double pump is very impressive even if a little ridiculous. however it sounds like its missing in the video(my computer has blown speakers ill watch it again wen i have headphones), and that was the only one he had of this car. really wanted to see if it moved and/or actually made power under boost. at least it ran i suppose. at least im not the only one who is this crazy lol.

where did you find the pics on this car? looked through his stuff on youtube didnt see anything else about it or any links.

i really want to get this project off the ground soon. it shall be awsomeness. lol

There is a member here that has a compound turbo d24t in a land rover. The owner of yoshifab I believe.

haha that land rover is just kool. sounds like a jet taking off. thanks for finding that anders. oh and i looked into the sweed diesel site. i found that thred, its taking me and google translate awile to figure it out tho lol.

ive been thinking, fitting 2 turbos next to the d24 in a 240 engine bay is gonna be rough. i might look into mounting motor upright so there is less piping between turbos. idk, im going home this weekend ill mach up a couple turbos in there and really start dealing with mounting and piping these things. if i get anything productive done ill post some pics of the car, and how far i get with it.
