Here's a cool thread about a guy swapping into his Audi a 1990 1T TDI engine, which is an inline 5 TDI engine more similar to the D24T than the 1.9 TDI.

I've never heard of these motors before as they didn't sell them in the USA, but it looks like it would nearly be a bolt in swap for a D24T if they were obtainable. That would be pretty sweet, as I much prefer the higher torque/lower rpm powerband of the TDI motors over the IDI engines.

I find the photos of this engine very interesting, because it almost looks like a "hybrid" between the newer 1.9 TDI and the D24T.

Hot dog, that would be a very cool ride. Audi Quattro with a diesel! I often thought about a Audi 4000 CS (80?) with the D20T in place of the inline 5 gasser. But this is another thing all together, 5-cylinder TDi powering all 4 wheels, so awesome.
